Pakistan Rice Sector: A Growing Demand

Pakistan is one of the largest rice producers globally contributing significantly to its economy. In the 2021-2022 marketing year Pakistan harvested 8.9 million tons of rice thanks to improved farming practices, hybrid rice varieties and expanded cultivation.
This growth has benefited exporters like Habib Rice Industry, which has tapped into new international markets as competitors like India and Southeast Asia face challenges in maintaining supply.
Recognizing the rising demand for rice Habib Rice Industry responded by expanding its production capabilities.
Rice is both a staple in Pakistan food culture and a key export commodity and the company strategically enhanced its global market presence.

Production Capacity: Expansion in 2024

Initially Habib Rice Industry served domestic markets with a modest production capacity. However, in 2024 the company made a strategic decision to significantly increase production. This expansion was vital to meeting the rising demand especially in international markets.
The company invested in state of the art drying and packaging facilities with a drying capacity of 80 tons of paddy and a total processing capacity of 165 tons. Their packaging unit can produce 400 bags per day equating to 26 tons of rice ready for export daily. These improvements have not only increased production but also enhanced efficiency and quality.

Stainless steel units for enhanced quality

A distinguishing feature of the Habib Rice Industry is its investment in stainless steel units which have improved rice quality. These units reduce contamination during processing preserving the rice purity, taste and texture.
This investment has been particularly beneficial for international exports where high quality standards are crucial. The stainless steel units ensure compliance with these standards increasing the trust and demand from global buyers.
